Full details

This full-time, benefits-eligible role is based in the Wake Forest University Health Sciences Anesthesiology department and is scheduled for 40 hours per week on a rotating basis, with shift lengths of nine, eleven, or thirteen hours or a mix of these. The position carries a lead responsibility, working with physician and operational leaders to refine clinical practice, take part in local quality and workflow projects, help recruit and onboard physicians and APPs, and mentor advanced practice providers at the site.

On the clinical side, the CRNA assesses patients and sets treatment plans suited to their age, acuity, and condition, including ordering and reading diagnostic studies and prescribing medical and non-drug therapies. The role also involves counseling patients and families, working within an interdisciplinary team, escalating care when needed, keeping thorough electronic medical records, and carrying out procedures within granted privileges.

Additional duties include contributing to peer review and safety initiatives, educating students and new staff, pursuing continued professional development, and meeting productivity and quality benchmarks that support safe, timely care.

Candidates must hold an active RN license and an APRN credential in the state of practice, along with active national certification as a CRNA, an active DEA registration before hire, and a master's degree in nursing. Illinois practice requires an active state controlled substance license, and ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are required as the site specifies. No prior experience is needed. Strong clinical judgment, independence, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills are expected, along with comfort using electronic records.

The position involves physical demands such as lifting, pushing and pulling patients or equipment, transferring patients, frequent standing, walking, and reaching, and working with foot-operated equipment. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and other workplace hazards is expected, with protective gear worn as needed.

Benefits described include base pay within a posted range based on qualifications and experience, shift and on-call premiums, possible incentive pay and annual performance increases, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, flexible spending accounts, family leave benefits, retirement plans with employer match, paid time off, and an educational assistance program, with some eligibility depending on FTE and status.
