Full details
The CRNA at this OhioHealth site performs and records pre-anesthesia assessments, builds anesthetic plans, and starts the anesthetic using general, regional, local, or sedation techniques. The role also includes monitoring each patient's physical condition throughout the case, choosing and giving anesthetics, medications, and fluids, and moving patients out of the recovery area with follow-up evaluation afterward. Responding to emergencies and taking call when the department requires it are part of the position, and the work is overseen by a physician as Ohio law requires.
Duties further include carrying out acute and chronic pain management approaches and supporting safe, efficient care under the organization's High Reliability framework, which emphasizes safety, quality, and efficiency. The listed duties are not exhaustive and may change over time.
Candidates need a master's degree in nursing, current Ohio registered nurse licensure, and graduation from an approved nursing school. They must also have completed a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the AANA's accrediting council or its predecessor, pass the AANA certification exam, and meet the NBCRNA's biennial recertification criteria, which cover ongoing licensure, active CRNA practice, and continuing education.
The position is a day shift with a scheduled 40 hours per week within the GMC Anesthesia department.
