Full details

This opening is for an Obstetric Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist who thrives in a fast-moving environment. The role centers on delivering skilled anesthesia care to adult and pediatric patients across a range of surgical and procedural areas. The nurse anesthetist works alongside anesthesiologists, surgeons, proceduralists, and interdisciplinary teams to evaluate patients, build anesthesia plans, track patient responses, and promote safety throughout the perioperative period.

Responsibilities include giving general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to adults and children, including medically complex adult patients. The nurse anesthetist completes pre-anesthesia evaluations covering history and risk, writes individualized anesthesia plans with anesthesiologists, and manages induction, maintenance, and emergence. Throughout procedures the nurse watches for physiological changes and responds, then provides post-anesthesia care and assesses recovery. Anesthesia techniques are adjusted for age and developmental needs.

All work is performed under physician supervision or medical direction as Texas law and facility policy require. The position follows state, federal, and facility rules, including standards set by the Texas Board of Nursing and the Texas Medical Board, along with patient safety, infection control, and risk management protocols. The nurse also takes part in quality improvement efforts and peer review, stays ready for emergency airway management and resuscitation, and helps foster a culture of safety, openness, and ongoing improvement.

Candidates need a bachelor's degree in nursing and graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program. They must hold a Registered Nurse license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing or through the Nurse Licensure Compact, along with an APRN-CRNA license from the Texas Board of Nursing. Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications from the American Heart Association are also required.
