Full details
This full-time day shift role in anesthesiology is a one-year position for a newly graduated nurse anesthetist transitioning into independent practice as a CRNA at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. A sign-on bonus of $9,000 may be available to candidates who meet the eligibility requirements.
Working under a CRNA or anesthesiologist who is directly available throughout every anesthetic at all affiliated sites, the graduate nurse anesthetist delivers full-spectrum anesthesia care, including general anesthesia, procedural sedation, and regional techniques. Responsibilities include selecting an age-appropriate anesthetic plan before induction for patients from neonates through later adulthood, communicating clearly during each case, and continually building clinical skill and theoretical knowledge with an emphasis on anesthesia. The nurse anesthetist exercises independent judgment within CRNA scope of practice, follows hospital policies and state and federal regulations, and may be assigned to either hospital. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Candidates should be graduates of an accredited nurse anesthesia program and hold a graduate-level nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing. Recent anesthesia experience as a CRNA or student nurse anesthetist within the past twelve months is preferred. Required credentials include a valid California registered nurse license, current NBCRNA certification, and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS cards from the American Heart Association. Fluency in English is required, and Spanish is a plus.
The position also calls for strong communication, teamwork, and professionalism, along with the ability to work calmly under pressure, prioritize a demanding workload, attend closely to detail, and troubleshoot patient care equipment. Physical abilities include adequate vision to read monitors and records, adequate hearing for conversation and alarms, and the ability to distinguish colors and smells and detect temperature differences by touch.
