Full details
Henry Ford Health, an academic health system headquartered in Detroit with 12 hospitals and many ambulatory locations across Michigan, is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join its anesthesia care team. The nurse anesthetist would give intravenous, inhaled, and regional anesthesia to keep patients free of pain during surgery, obstetrical deliveries, and other medical or dental procedures. Care may extend to patients of every age and every A.S.A. class, including older adults and children, and airway management is provided across the hospital as needed.
The Department of Anesthesiology includes more than 50 CRNAs and 15 senior staff physicians, and the group describes its culture as a team-based one. Practice opportunities span general anesthesia, regional techniques, and invasive line placement. The hospital is a level 2 trauma center with 23 operating rooms covering cardiac, thoracic, neurosurgery, orthopedic, general, ENT, urology, ophthalmology, podiatry, and pediatric cases. Anesthesia is also delivered off-site in endoscopy suites, the cath lab, and radiology areas such as CT and MRI, as well as in obstetrics. Shift lengths are flexible, with several options offered.
Day-to-day duties include completing pre-anesthesia assessments and building individualized anesthesia plans, delivering general, regional, or monitored anesthesia care alongside surgeons and other providers, watching patients through procedures and handling any anesthesia complications, providing recovery care and pain control afterward, and keeping documentation that meets hospital policy and regulatory standards.
Candidates need a current RN license and NBCRNA certification, along with a master's or doctoral degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program. Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills are expected, as is the ability to work well with anesthesiologists and other clinicians. Required credentials include Michigan RN licensure, a state specialty certification, CRNA certification, clinical privileges, and current ALS and BLS certifications.
