Full details
This PRN position at Horse Pen Creek is for a CRNA who will deliver general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care. The anesthetist manages induction, maintenance, and emergence, supports vital functions, responds to abnormal patient reactions, and stays with patients until responsibility can safely transfer. Pre-anesthesia work includes confirming physician evaluation, verifying completed testing, reviewing the patient before induction, and checking all equipment. Post-anesthesia duties include advising recovery staff, providing epidural and other post-operative analgesia with the surgeon, and following up on anesthesia-related complications.
Additional responsibilities include narcotic accounting and distribution, responding to Code Blue and respiratory emergencies, helping nursing units with difficult IV starts when other attempts have failed, and, at times, giving anesthesia under a operating surgeon's supervision or providing labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center. The role also calls for keeping current with research and practice standards and taking part in departmental and ASC improvement work when appropriate. Care must be tailored to patients of all ages, with knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
Required credentials include an RN license, CRNA certification from the AANA, an APRN prescriber license, and DEA registration, along with PALS and ACLS, or NRP, to be completed within six months unless the department leader waives them. A master's degree in nursing is required, and no prior experience is needed. The schedule may include 24/7 on-call and weekend coverage as needed.
The position involves frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and patient transfers, and requires functional vision and hearing. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, lifting 20 pounds overhead, carrying 40 pounds, and pushing or pulling 30 pounds of force, plus a 150-pound sliding transfer with a second person. The worker will use foot pedals and be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and bodily-fluid hazards, wearing gloves, goggles, and gowns as needed. The posting lists a pay range of $175.00 to $175.00 and is not benefits eligible; the hours per week are listed as 0.
