Full details
This full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist role is a nocturnist position, and a sign-on bonus of 30K is noted in the listing title. The nurse anesthetist administers anesthesia during surgical, obstetrical and other pain-producing procedures under physician supervision, working alongside residents, fellows, attendings and other staff in a collaborative care model.
Core responsibilities include documenting procedures and any incidents, assessing patients before, during and after anesthesia, and giving anesthesia using accepted practice techniques with patient safety as the priority. The nurse acts as a liaison with surgeons, anesthesiologists, co-workers, patients and families, takes part in department quality assurance efforts and professional development activities, and adjusts communication, privacy practices and introductions to each patient population. Other related duties may be assigned, and the role requires staying current on federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
Candidates need a master's degree from a nurse anesthesia program accredited through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists, with no prior work experience specified. Required credentials include an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in the state of practice, NBCRNA certification, and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. The position also calls for solid computer and keyboard skills for data entry and retrieval, and clear verbal and written communication.
The job is physically demanding at a medium work level, which includes prolonged standing, lifting up to moderate loads, and frequent exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue in patient care areas. A flexible schedule is required, including 24/7 coverage, weekends, holidays and on-call availability.
The posting notes that the position may be remote or on-site, so applicants should check the job description for the setting. Remote work is not available to residents of Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington or Washington D.C. The employer is an equal opportunity employer.
