Full details

This CRNA position at Baylor Scott & White's Hillcrest site in Waco is a licensed advanced-practice role that administers, monitors, and adjusts anesthesia for patients of all ages undergoing surgery and other procedures. The posting notes the opening is limited to select locations because of particular workplace conditions.

Core responsibilities include reviewing the patient's health history, psychosocial and biophysical, along with the physician's pre-anesthetic evaluation and current lab results, and discussing the planned procedure with the patient. The CRNA performs a pre-induction exam and brief physical assessment, confirms safety standards and equipment such as the anesthesia machine, suction, airway tools, and monitoring electrodes are ready, and then induces and maintains general or regional anesthesia under the staff anesthesiologist's direction. Duties also cover intubation and extubation, managing fluids, blood, and electrolytes, and handling emergencies according to department policy.

During general anesthesia the CRNA uses all available noninvasive monitoring, including blood pressure, ECG, oximetry, temperature, and oxygen analysis, recording blood pressure and pulse every five minutes and other pulses every fifteen minutes. The CRNA documents the anesthetic record, including significant events and any unusual occurrences, reverses and terminates anesthesia, safely transports the patient to recovery, gives a detailed handoff, and follows the patient for up to 24 hours after anesthesia with progress notes.

Success in the role requires completing 40 CEUs every two years, keeping certification and registration current, staying up to date on resuscitation practice and anesthesia trends, communicating well within a care team, adapting to change, working variable hours, and sharing on-call duties with a timely response.

Qualifications listed include a bachelor's degree, less than one year of experience, and certification and registration as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. ACLS and BLS certifications are required within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Benefits described include immediate eligibility for health and welfare coverage, a 401(k) plan with a dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off accruing from the first day. The posting notes benefits may vary by position type and level.
