Full details

Carilion Clinic, a not-for-profit health system headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, is recruiting a certified registered nurse anesthetist for its Smith Mountain Lake opening at the Rocky Mount facility. The system runs multiple award-winning hospitals, two trauma centers at Levels 1 and 3, a Level 3 NICU, an orthopedics and neurosciences institute, and multi-specialty practices, alongside a medical school and research institute.

In this role, the nurse anesthetist designs anesthesia plans for patients across every age group, working alongside an anesthesiologist or the referring physician. The provider adjusts the anesthetic as the patient responds, keeps thorough and accurate records, and watches over patient safety during the procedure and during handoffs to other clinicians. The position also involves guiding other healthcare staff involved in delivering anesthesia.

Candidates need a degree from an accredited professional nursing program and graduation from a Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs school. A current Virginia license as both a registered nurse and a nurse practitioner-nurse anesthetist is required, along with active NBCRNA certification or recertification. Applicants must also keep current AHA-approved BLS, ACLS, and PALS credentials and show strong communication and interpersonal abilities. No prior experience is listed as a requirement.

The position is full time and may be scheduled on any day or shift. Pay depends on factors such as qualifications, credentials, education, and prior experience, and the posted compensation range excludes benefits and pension contributions. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, an employer-funded pension vested after five years, a voluntary 403(b) plan, paid time off that accrues from the first day, on-site fitness studios and wellness discounts, a wellness app, childcare discounts, and continuing education support.
