Full details

The University of Kansas Health System's St. Francis Campus in Topeka, Kansas is looking for a part-time, as-needed Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Candidates must have completed a nurse anesthesia program, hold certification, and be eligible for licensure in Kansas. Shadowing opportunities are offered to those who want to observe the practice before joining.

The caseload spans many surgical areas, including obstetrics, general surgery, orthopedics and spine, urology, plastics, gastrointestinal procedures, the cardiac catheterization lab, neurosurgery, and cardiovascular surgery. The practice follows a medically supervised model that gives the anesthetist considerable independence, with the opportunity to perform regional blocks, epidurals, and central line placements. Home call is part of the role.

Anesthetists here have access to the physician lounge, which includes meals. The employer provides the Epic electronic medical record platform and a mentoring program.

The hospital, founded in 1909, has 378 beds and is part of a partnership between the University of Kansas Health System and Ardent Health Services that began in 2017. Topeka, the Kansas capital, has a population of nearly 180,000 and offers parks, trails, arts venues, and affordable housing. Kansas City, about an hour away, provides major museums, cultural venues, and professional sports, and its international airport is roughly an hour from Topeka.
