Providers would be credentialed to work at Spartanburg Medical Center on Church Street, a Level 1 Trauma center, along with the Mary Black campus, Cherokee Medical Center, and Pelham Medical Center. Applicants must be graduates of an accredited CRNA program or anesthesiologist assistant program.

The position is structured without call, nights, or weekends, with a dedicated call team covering overnight and weekend needs. Schedule options vary, and the role includes eight weeks of time off. New providers complete a four- to six-week mentorship and orientation period. The health system is a teaching site for four nurse anesthesia programs and one anesthesiologist assistant program, so providers may have chances to teach or mentor student registered nurse anesthetists and student anesthesiologist assistants.

Recruitment incentives include up to $50,000 in student loan forgiveness, a $50,000 sign-on bonus, and paid relocation assistance. Benefits described include health insurance that begins on the date of hire, paid malpractice coverage with tail coverage, paid parental leave, and $3,500 annually in continuing medical education funds. The employer is a PSLF-approved institution.

The anesthesia department includes roughly 34 anesthesiologists and about 100 CAAs and CRNAs who cover the operating rooms, endoscopy, the cath lab, labor and delivery, MRI, and interventional radiology, supported by anesthesia technicians. Case mix is broad across the campuses, though the system does not perform transplant or burn cases; it does handle some healthy pediatric patients and a limited number of NICU cases. The Church Street campus alone logs more than 19,000 cases a year. The facilities range from that Level 1 trauma center to a five-operating-room community hospital. The electronic record system is Epic.

Outdoor recreation is plentiful in the Upstate region of South Carolina.
