Full details
The CRNA position at Henry Ford Hospital Macomb in Clinton Township, Michigan is a full-time role on the anesthesia care team. The nurse anesthetist gives intravenous, inhaled, and regional anesthetics to keep patients free of pain during operations, labor and delivery, and other medical or dental procedures. Care may extend to patients of every age and every ASA physical status class, including older adults and children, and the CRNA also supplies airway management wherever it is needed in the hospital.
Case work spans a broad surgical range, covering heart and chest operations, general and vascular procedures, urologic, neurosurgical, and bone or joint surgery, gynecologic work including gynecologic oncology and urogynecology, ear, nose and throat, plastic, pediatric, and weight-loss surgery. Robotic procedures in heart, chest, urologic, and orthopedic specialties are also part of the caseload. Some anesthesia is delivered outside the main operating rooms, in the cardiac catheterization lab, endoscopy, interventional radiology, MRI, and the obstetrics unit.
Responsibilities include completing pre-anesthesia evaluations and building individualized anesthesia plans, delivering general, regional, or monitored anesthesia care alongside surgeons and other clinicians, and watching patients closely through procedures while addressing any complications. The CRNA also provides recovery care and pain control afterward and keeps records that meet hospital policy and regulatory requirements. On-call and weekend shifts occur about once every two to three months.
Candidates need a current RN license and NBCRNA certification, along with a master's or doctoral degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program. Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork are expected, as is the ability to collaborate smoothly with anesthesiologists and other providers. Required credentials include clinical privileges, a Michigan RN license, state specialty certification, CRNA certification, and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications, all kept current.
The posting advertises a $40K sign-on bonus, with eligibility noted. Benefits include a competitive salary, family-building support such as paid parental leave, adoption assistance, donor assistance, and fertility coverage, and a 403(b) retirement plan with a 3.5% salary match. Medical, dental, and vision coverage comes with tax-advantaged HSA, FSA, and DCFSA options. Time off includes 5 weeks of PTO per year plus 1 week for continuing education, and the employer provides $1500 in CME funding each year.
