The role carries 1,720 hours per year, with additional hours paid at $200 per hour. A sign-on bonus or student loan assistance of up to $100,000 is available, based on the commitment the candidate makes. The schedule includes 24-hour beeper call with a 20-minute response expectation, and a designated call room is provided when needed. The call ratio is 1:4.
The CRNA administers anesthesia or sedation to patients across a range of surgical and non-surgical procedures. Responsibilities include creating and carrying out pre-anesthetic plans, writing orders before, during and after procedures, and collaborating with the other providers caring for each patient. The role also involves communicating with patients, their families and the wider care team, ordering and reviewing diagnostic tests as needed, and monitoring patients, including hemodynamics, adjusting care to match the anesthetic plan. The position requires the ability to meet the developmental needs of patients of all ages.
Applicants need a bachelor's degree from an approved, accredited advanced practice nursing program. A master's degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice or PhD is preferred. A current, unrestricted license as a CRNA from the state board of nursing where they practice is required, and multistate licensure may be needed depending on the role. CRNA certification through the NBCRNA must be obtained and maintained, along with department-specific competencies. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is preferred. Privileging and credentialing documents take precedence over this description when defining minimum qualifications and scope of practice.
