Full details

This full-time Graduate Registered Nurse Anesthetist role in San Diego comes with a $25,000 sign-on bonus. The position works under the medical supervision of a physician anesthesiologist to deliver general and regional anesthesia for surgical, obstetrical and other procedures, across patients from neonates through geriatric adults, following hospital and departmental standards of care. Duties include airway management, fluid and homeostasis maintenance, monitoring, emergency response including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and care of ventilated patients.

Day-to-day responsibilities include pre-operative evaluation through patient interview, examination and chart review, then choosing an anesthetic with the physician, based on that assessment and the patient's response to premedication. The anesthetist speaks with surgeons and anesthesiologists about special patient concerns, checks equipment daily and between cases, prepares medications, and monitors patients during surgery. Post-operative assessment occurs within 24 hours, and the role requires careful accounting of controlled substances.

The provider must follow organizational rules and regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission standards and Title 22, along with the organization's policies and applicable state, federal and local law. Anesthesia is administered within the clinical privileges granted to the provider. The role also calls for an understanding of how patients of different age groups develop physically, emotionally and cognitively, and for maintaining courteous relations with patients, staff and the public. The position operates within an anesthesia team that includes MDAs, CRNAs and anesthesia technicians.
