Full details

A $25,000 sign-on bonus is offered for this full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist position in San Diego. The CRNA works under the medical supervision of an anesthesiologist to deliver general and regional anesthesia for surgical, obstetrical and other procedures requiring anesthesia. Patients range from neonates and children to adolescents, adults and older adults, and care follows hospital and departmental standards.

Responsibilities include airway management, fluid and homeostasis maintenance, patient monitoring, responding to airway emergencies and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and managing ventilated patients. Before surgery, the CRNA interviews and examines each patient, reviews the chart, and chooses an anesthetic with the anesthesiologist. The role also covers intraoperative monitoring, assessing patients after surgery within 24 hours, and coordinating with surgeons and anesthesiologists about patient concerns.

The CRNA checks and maintains anesthesia equipment daily and between cases, prepares medications, and keeps an accurate count of controlled substances. The position includes precepting student nurse anesthetists and acting within delineated clinical privileges. All work must follow organizational policy, accreditation standards and state and local regulations, and the CRNA is expected to maintain courteous relationships with patients, staff and the public. Other duties within licensure may be assigned.
