Full details

The role centers on administering anesthesia and sedation to patients across a wide range of surgical and non-surgical procedures. The CRNA develops and carries out a pre-anesthetic plan for each patient, writes orders before, during, and after procedures, and monitors patients, including hemodynamically, adjusting care to match the anesthesia plan. The position also orders and reviews diagnostic tests as needed and works alongside the other providers caring for each patient.

Communication is a significant part of the work, including with patients, family members, and other members of the health care team. The department offers flexibility, includes weekend call coverage, and covers general surgery as well as obstetric epidural services. The posting also notes an ability to care for patients across different growth and development stages.

Candidates need a Bachelor of Science degree from an approved, accredited advanced practice nursing program, and a master's degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice, or Ph.D. is preferred. An unencumbered license as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the state board of nursing in the practice state, or multi-state licensure privileges where the position requires them, is required. CRNA certification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists must be held and maintained, along with department-specific competencies, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is preferred.
