Full details

This full-time, day-shift leadership role at the University of Rochester oversees all staff CRNAs who deliver anesthesia care at Strong Memorial Hospital, working under faculty anesthesiologists in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. The Chief CRNA sets administrative direction for the group, with support from associate chiefs and an assistant chief.

Core responsibilities include orienting new CRNAs and completing their initial competency reviews, leading recruitment and interviews, conducting annual reviews, and acting as the group's main point of contact with department leadership. The chief also coaches CRNAs and student nurse anesthetists, serves as crew chief to help coordinate daily operating room flow, and builds a fair, transparent system for off-shift and coverage scheduling. Additional duties cover CEU paperwork, credentialing forms, compensation and time approvals, committee participation, and tracking staff compliance with health, course and life-support certification requirements.

Candidates need a graduate degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia school, along with graduation from an approved school of nursing, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. Current active-practice membership in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists is required, as is CRNA certification, which must be obtained upon hire. The posted compensation range is $229,840.00 to $344,760.00, with individual pay set within that range based on factors such as market data, education, experience and internal equity.
