Full details

The University of Rochester seeks a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for its Anesthesia and Perioperative department at 601 Elmwood Ave in Rochester, New York. This is a full-time, regular position on the day-shift schedule, with a compensation range of $229,840.00 to $344,760.00; actual pay will be set within that band based on market data, education, experience, and internal equity.

The role centers on delivering anesthesia care and protecting patient safety across the surgical continuum. Duties include evaluating patients before surgery by reviewing their history, examinations, lab and imaging results, and past anesthetic experiences; inducing and maintaining anesthesia; managing adverse reactions to drugs; and keeping a thorough, legible anesthesia record. The CRNA also handles airway procedures such as intubation, places vascular access and monitoring devices, and checks equipment for safety before each case.

During emergence and recovery, the CRNA hands off essential data to the receiving nurse, follows up with patients after surgery, and reports any complications linked to anesthesia. The position also calls for emergency resuscitation in any hospital area, timely planning of medications and fluids, and communication with surgeons, obstetricians, and anesthesiologists when circumstances change.

Candidates must be graduates of an approved nursing program and of a nurse anesthesia school accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, or hold an equivalent mix of education and experience. Current active AANA membership and CRNA certification, to be obtained upon hire, are required. Ongoing professional development through conferences, seminars, and journals is expected.
