Full details

This full-time, day-shift position at the University of Rochester's Anesthesia and Perioperative department at 601 Elmwood Ave in Rochester, New York, is for a CRNA providing anesthesia care and focusing on patient safety. The role spans pre-operative and intra-operative care in a fast-paced clinical environment where strong communication and clinical skill are central. The compensation range listed is $229,840.00 to $344,760.00, with individual pay set within that range based on factors such as market data, education, experience, and internal equity.

Core responsibilities include interviewing patients before surgery and assessing their condition through medical history, physical exam, lab and imaging results, nursing notes, and prior anesthesia records, including family anesthesia complications. The CRNA induces and maintains anesthesia, monitors vital functions, recognizes and treats adverse drug reactions, and calls in an anesthesiologist consultant when needed. Other duties include keeping accurate anesthesia records, communicating changes to surgeons, handing off patients to recovery nurses, visiting patients after surgery, providing emergency resuscitation anywhere in the hospital, and performing procedures such as IV and arterial access, laryngoscopy, and intubation. The CRNA also prepares and checks equipment and supplies, positions patients, and keeps up with continuing education and professional literature.

Applicants need to be graduates of an approved nursing school and of a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, or hold an equivalent mix of education and experience. Current active-practice membership in the AANA is required, along with CRNA certification to be obtained upon hire.
