The role gives CRNAs a chance to work with a high degree of independence within a blended team, where physicians and CRNAs share call and each personally delivers anesthesia care. The surgical caseload is varied, which allows practitioners to draw on regional anesthesia techniques.

The hospital in Litchfield is a Catholic, not-for-profit facility belonging to the Hospital Sisters Health System and was founded by the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis. It aims to serve residents of its two-county region and offers a broad range of medical services, including a surgery center, a cancer care center, advanced diagnostic imaging, and physical, cardiac, and pulmonary rehabilitation. It is also the only facility in that two-county area that provides maternity care.

Responsibilities include delivering thorough anesthesia care across a range of surgical cases, completing pre-anesthesia assessments, and securing informed consent. The CRNA also builds and reviews anesthetic plans with patients, manages induction, maintenance and emergence, and watches physiological status closely, intervening as needed. The position additionally contributes to departmental coordination and clinical leadership.

Candidates need a current registered nurse license, graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, and certification or recertification through the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists. The position is per diem and pays $170 per hour for W2 employment or $180 per hour for 1099 engagement.
