Full details

Exeter Hospital, a level 3 trauma center in Exeter, New Hampshire, is adding to its CRNA team. The community-based practice runs an anesthesia care-team model that emphasizes balance between work and personal life and a collegial atmosphere. Nurse anesthetists here are free to practice independently and are urged to work at the full extent of their credentials; experience with pediatric patients is favored, and some practitioners also precept students from nearby nurse anesthesia programs.

The town sits under an hour from Boston and Portland, which suits commuters, and it offers lake and snow recreation along with well-regarded schools such as Phillips Exeter Academy. Logan International Airport is about an hour away. New Hampshire levies neither a state income tax nor a sales tax. Regional anesthesia, including spinal and nerve blocks, is available to those who want to perform it.

The compensation package lists a salary of $295K and a $100K sign-on incentive. Benefits include medical, life, vision, dental, disability, and accidental death and dismemberment coverage, generous time off, flexible spending and health savings accounts, a 401(k) with profit sharing, fully paid malpractice coverage, and help with loan repayment and training costs.

Cases span general surgery, orthopedics, endoscopy, ENT, gynecology, obstetrics including labor and delivery, ophthalmology, urology, vascular, plastics, healthy pediatric patients, and dental procedures. Head, cardiac, and chronic pain cases are excluded.

Responsibilities include delivering complete anesthesia care across a range of operations, completing pre-anesthesia assessments and consent, creating and reviewing anesthetic plans with patients, managing induction, maintenance, and recovery, watching patients' physiological status and intervening as required, and helping lead departmental coordination. Candidates need a current registered nurse license, graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, and current AANA certification or recertification.
