This full-time CRNA role at the Canonsburg Hospital in Pennsylvania, part of Allegheny Health Network, provides anesthetic care to patients in the surgical setting. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

The CRNA assesses, plans, evaluates, and carries out anesthetic management for every patient receiving anesthesia care, and keeps accurate medical records; this documentation takes up the largest share of the role at 45%. The nurse anesthetist watches patients continuously while they are under anesthesia and responds to abnormal reactions. Plan of care is discussed with the attending physician, who is brought into decisions on any issue beyond the CRNA's knowledge or scope of practice, which accounts for 35% of the work.

Other responsibilities include helping to design and carry out performance and quality improvement efforts (10%), following legal and ethical nursing standards and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists' code, and maintaining safety practices and regulatory compliance (5%). The CRNA serves as a clinical resource for the wider healthcare team and may mentor new staff or students (5%), and may be assigned other duties as needed.

Required qualifications include a current Pennsylvania RN license or a current multistate license under the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact. Certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists is required. Previous CRNA experience is preferred.

Additional requirements include current American Heart Association CPR, PALS, and ACLS certifications, along with several clearances: Act 34 criminal background, Act 33 child abuse, and Act 73 FBI fingerprinting.
