Full details

A hospital anesthesia department in Boston is recruiting certified nurse anesthetists who bring genuine dedication to patient care. The position sits within a highly regarded group practice tied to a major academic medical center and seven community hospitals across Eastern Massachusetts, and the network's growth has created openings at several sites. The academic group is employed by a physician organization affiliated with the medical center for patient care, research and teaching, and that organization reports roughly 1,900 providers across its collective groups.

Clinicians work within a collaborative anesthesia care model in which student nurse anesthetists rotate through and resident physicians train, producing an active, demanding teaching environment. Cases span a broad range of specialties, including general surgery, trauma, regional anesthesia, neurosurgery, thoracic, transplant, vascular, cardiac, orthopedics, pain management, plastic surgery, gynecology, ENT, urology, gastroenterology, endoscopy and sports medicine.

Applicants need graduation from an accredited nursing program and a current Massachusetts registered nurse license held in the advanced practice role of nurse anesthetist. They must also have completed an anesthesia program accredited by the AANA and keep their certification current under AANA Council on Recertification rules and state requirements. Strong clinical judgment, physical stamina, manual dexterity, the ability to give every type of anesthetic with minimal supervision, and the capacity to work cooperatively with anesthesiologists, fellow CRNAs, other providers and office staff are all expected.

Compensation is listed as a base range of $270,000 to $280,000. The final figure depends on factors such as academic appointment, experience, specialty training, work location, expected productivity, FTE level and role expectations. Performance-based incentives tied to productivity and quality may also be available. The employer provides a broad benefits package for eligible staff that includes health, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, plus retirement plans with employer contributions.
