Full details

The practice covers 47 operating rooms along with many out-of-OR sites, obstetrics (excluding pediatrics), and a surgical center in Foxborough. The posted base salary starts at $241,945.60, with higher pay offered to candidates who bring additional CRNA experience, plus a competitive benefits package.

Responsibilities span the pre-operative, intra-operative, and immediate post-operative phases of anesthesia for surgical, medical, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. Duties include pre-anesthesia evaluations, creating anesthetic plans, setting up specialized equipment, placing and reading anesthetic monitors, managing the airway, and giving general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care. The nurse anesthetist also manages patients through induction, maintenance, and emergence, oversees recovery, and completes post-operative assessments alongside a physician from the Department of Anesthesiology. Services are delivered in the main operating suites, Labor and Delivery, and approved out-of-OR areas such as Radiology and MRI.

CRNAs here also teach student nurse anesthetists from Northeastern University who complete clinical rotations at the hospital. Clinical research may be possible for those interested, depending on available protocols, though it is not a departmental expectation and is not typically funded by the anesthesia department. The practice encourages professional growth in quality improvement, academic work, and research, and provides a generous education allowance. Scheduling is flexible, with no weekends, holidays, or on-call duty, which the practice describes as supporting work-life balance.

Required qualifications include a nursing diploma and a master's degree in nurse anesthesia practice, current certification as a CRNA from the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists, and Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support credentials. Candidates should show analytical reasoning for managing a panel of patients, strong observation and priority-setting skills, the ability to work calmly under pressure, and solid communication and teamwork. Physical capability and manual dexterity are needed to deliver all anesthesia types using a range of techniques.

The clinical scope listed for the role includes pre-anesthesia assessment, lab and diagnostic test requests, pre-anesthetic medication, general and adjunct drug anesthesia, regional block placement and monitoring, sedation, resuscitation, invasive and noninvasive monitoring, airway and ventilation management, fluid and blood management, arterial, central venous, and pulmonary artery catheter placement, acute and chronic pain therapy, and post-anesthesia discharge care. Privileges expand as additional training and experience are gained. The hospital is a 793-bed academic medical center in Boston and a major teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
