Full details
Aurora Medical Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin is seeking a PRN Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join its Anesthesiology team. The position is scheduled for two shifts per month, Monday through Friday, and the hourly rate is $175, with additional compensation offered for shifts beyond the first two.
The anesthetist would deliver general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care, covering induction, maintenance and emergence, along with life support, detailed event recording, and corrective response to abnormal patient reactions. Pre-anesthesia work includes confirming a physician's pre-anesthetic evaluation, verifying that tests are complete, reviewing the patient's status before induction, and checking equipment readiness. After the procedure, the role requires staying with the patient until care can safely be handed off, advising post-anesthesia staff, giving post-operative epidural and other analgesia alongside the surgeon, and following up on anesthesia-related complications. The CRNA is also responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution, responds to emergencies such as Code Blue and respiratory crises when available, helps with difficult IV starts when requested, and may provide labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center.
Required credentials include an active Registered Nurse license, CRNA certification from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, a Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license, and DEA registration. Within six months, the anesthetist must obtain PALS and ACLS certification, or NRP certification, unless the department leader waives the requirement. A master's degree in nursing is required, and no prior experience is necessary.
The hospital is a 119-bed, full-service facility in Sheboygan County. Advocate Health offers base pay within the posted range, premium pay for shifts and on-call work, possible incentive pay and annual performance increases, medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, flexible spending accounts, family benefits, retirement plans with employer match, paid time off, and educational assistance. Eligibility for some programs depends on the position's status and hours.
