This Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist position is based in the Department of Anesthesiology in the Bronx, New York. The CRNA delivers general and regional anesthesia to patients while working under the direction of an attending anesthesiologist, and also provides preoperative anesthesia care in the Pre-Anesthesia Assessment Center.

Core duties include readying the anesthesia cart, supplies and machine before cases, preparing and labeling perioperative medications, carrying out preoperative patient evaluations, establishing intravenous access, and applying required monitoring. The CRNA also keeps timely, legible records of anesthesia activity, including medications and non-drug interventions, gives handoff reports to PACU nursing staff, keeps the operating room and anesthesia areas clean and safe, alerts anesthesia technicians to equipment or supply needs, and tracks controlled substance counts.

Candidates need a Doctor of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice degree from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, plus certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support credentials are also required.

The posted schedule runs Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5:30 PM, for 9.5 scheduled hours per day, on a day shift. The role is described as carrying no weekends, no holidays, no call and no night work. The posted hourly rate is $131.28, which the posting notes is the hiring rate and may change based on shift differential, experience, education or other factors. The position is part of the NYSNA bargaining unit.
