Full details

This per diem Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist role is based at a site on Locust Street in Northampton, Massachusetts, within Cooley Dickinson Health Care, an affiliate of Mass General Brigham. The position is onsite, runs on a day shift, and is listed with a pay rate of $200 per hour, with a separate posted pay range of $107.54 to $127.33 per hour.

The CRNA delivers anesthesia care to patients, starting with a review of each patient's medical history and taking part in choosing the anesthetic approach. Duties include explaining anesthesia to patients before procedures, coordinating with anesthesia, nursing and surgical staff, and carrying out induction and maintenance of general (intravenous or inhalation) and regional anesthesia, sometimes under the direction of an appointed supervisor. The practitioner may place invasive monitoring lines, watch vital life-support functions during procedures or emergencies, and assess and treat responses involving oxygenation, circulation and ventilation.

Further responsibilities include handing off patient status clearly and following documentation rules, checking anesthesia equipment, supplies and drugs for safety, and working with pharmacy staff on drug handling, medication administration and waste protocols. The role also involves taking part in drug or operational audits, projects and meetings, and providing observation and care in the immediate postoperative period until the recovery nurse or physician accepts responsibility for the patient.

Required qualifications are a master's degree in nurse anesthesia practice and current national certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Compensation is described as based on skills, experience, education and certifications, and the benefits package includes differentials, premiums and bonuses where applicable, along with career advancement and recognition programs.
