Full details
The Brigham and Women's Hospital, an affiliate of Mass General Brigham in Boston, is recruiting a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join its CRNA practice of about 20 full-time, part-time, and per-diem clinicians. The group works within the Anesthesia Care Team model across 47 operating rooms, numerous out-of-OR sites, obstetrics (excluding pediatrics), and a surgi-center in Foxborough. The stated annual salary starts at $241,945.60, with higher pay possible for candidates who bring additional CRNA experience, alongside a benefits package described as competitive. The hourly pay range listed is $110.71 to $156.02.
Responsibilities cover the pre-operative, intra-operative, and immediate post-operative care of patients receiving anesthesia for surgical, medical, therapeutic, or diagnostic procedures. Duties include pre-anesthesia evaluations, building anesthetic plans, setting up specialized equipment, placing and reading monitors, managing airways, giving general and regional anesthesia along with monitored anesthesia care, and overseeing emergence and recovery. Work takes place in main operating rooms, Labor and Delivery, and designated out-of-OR locations such as Radiology and MRI. CRNAs also teach student nurse anesthetists from Northeastern University during their clinical rotations, and clinical research may be possible depending on available protocols.
The schedule is described as flexible, with no weekends, holidays, or on-call duties. Professional growth is encouraged in areas such as quality improvement, academics, and research, and a generous education allowance is provided.
Required qualifications include a nursing diploma and a Master's degree in nurse anesthesia practice, current CRNA certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists, and Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications. The role calls for analytical thinking, the ability to prioritize and work under stress, strong communication and teamwork, and the physical ability and manual dexterity to deliver all types of anesthetics using a range of techniques.
The Brigham is a 793-bed academic medical center in Boston and a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, ranked among the top 20 hospitals in the U.S. News & World Report rankings. The position is onsite at 45 Francis Street.
