Full details
The Brigham and Women's Hospital, an affiliate of Mass General Brigham, is seeking a per diem Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join its anesthesia practice. The posted base rate is $116.32 per hour at minimum, with higher pay possible depending on experience. The practice includes about 20 CRNAs working full time, part time, and per diem within the Anesthesia Care Team model across 47 operating rooms, numerous out-of-OR sites, obstetrics (excluding pediatrics), and a surgical center in Foxborough.
The role covers pre-operative, intra-operative, and immediate post-operative anesthesia care for patients undergoing surgical, medical, therapeutic, or diagnostic procedures. Duties include preoperative evaluation, anesthetic planning, airway management, general and regional anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care, and post-operative assessment alongside a physician from the Department of Anesthesiology. Services take place in main operating rooms, Labor and Delivery, and designated out-of-OR locations such as Radiology and MRT. CRNAs also teach student nurse anesthetists rotating in from Northeastern University. Clinical research may be possible for those interested, though it is not a departmental requirement.
The practice describes its schedule as flexible, with no weekends, holidays, or on-call duties. Professional growth is encouraged in quality improvement, academics, and research, and an education allowance is provided.
Candidates need a nursing diploma and a master's degree in nurse anesthesia practice, plus current NBCRNA certification as a CRNA. Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications are also required. The posting asks for analytic thinking, strong observation and prioritization skills, the ability to work under stress, good communication, and the physical ability and manual dexterity to give all types of anesthetics.
The posting lists clinical responsibilities including pre-anesthesia assessment, regional anesthesia placement, sedation, mechanical ventilation, fluid and blood management, arterial and central line placement, acute and chronic pain therapy, and post-anesthesia discharge care.
The hospital is a 793-bed academic medical center in Boston and a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. The position is onsite at 45 Francis Street, with a rotating shift and a pay range of $110.71 to $156.02 per hour, with final pay based on skills, experience, and credentials. Benefits, differentials, premiums, and bonuses are described as available.
