Full details

The schedule is 12-hour shifts. UVA Health's University Medical Center is growing its Perioperative Services and is recruiting Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists to cover extended-hour operating room sessions, Saturday elective cases, and continued OR expansion across several surgical sites. The hiring is part of the health system's plan through 2027 to widen surgical access while moving away from incentive-based anesthesia coverage toward a stable, employed CRNA workforce. CRNAs here work within an Anesthesia Care Team that includes anesthesiologists, residents, student nurse anesthetists, and anesthesia technologists, in a Level I Trauma Center that is recognized nationally as an academic medical center. The practice emphasizes high autonomy, letting CRNAs work at the top of their license with meaningful independence in anesthesia delivery and clinical decisions.

The caseload spans general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care in the main operating room, outpatient and ambulatory surgery centers, endoscopy and procedural suites, and off-site non-OR locations. Weekend program roles are offered at 0.9 FTE or 0.6 FTE, with shifts on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays; a weekend commitment of 46 of 52 weekends a year is required to qualify. Weekend program providers receive a weekend shift differential, holiday premium pay under Medical Center policy, and a Weekend Program Premium for hours worked in that program, and the posted hourly pay range is $100.96 to $124.74, set by the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Candidates need a Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited program, or eligibility to practice as a CRNA in Virginia, along with Virginia licensure as a registered nurse and as a nurse practitioner, Virginia CRNA certification, and AHA BLS certification. No prior experience is required. The role involves prolonged sitting, frequent bending, overhead reaching, and lifting or moving loads of 50 to over 100 pounds, with possible exposure to fumes, blood, and infectious disease. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, disability and retirement plans, health savings and flexible spending accounts, certification and education support, 26 days of PTO plus a week for professional development, mentorship for new graduates, and AANA-approved CEU credits. Sign-on incentives and relocation help are available per policy, and background checks and drug screening apply.

Charlottesville sits near the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Park and offers dining, wineries, arts, and a walkable downtown.
