Full details

UVA Health's University Medical Center is growing its Perioperative Services and is recruiting Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists to staff extended-hour operating room sessions, Saturday elective cases, and continued OR expansion across several surgical locations. The growth supports the health system's plan through 2027 to widen surgical access while shifting anesthesia coverage away from incentive pay toward a steady, employed group of CRNAs.

CRNAs here work in a collaborative Anesthesia Care Team setting at a nationally recognized academic center that also holds Level I Trauma Center status. The practice is described as highly autonomous, giving nurse anesthetists room to perform at the full scope of their license and to act as trusted partners with real independence in delivering anesthesia and making clinical decisions.

Anesthesia work covers a demanding and varied caseload: the main operating rooms with high-acuity and trauma patients, outpatient and ambulatory surgery centers, endoscopy and procedural suites, and off-site non-OR anesthesia locations. Full-time employed positions are offered, along with weekend-focused schedules and wage-based or PRN options. The role carries no call obligation, weekends and holidays are optional, and shift differentials are available.

Additional perks include schedule flexibility, a mentorship program for newly graduated nurse anesthetists, leadership and quality improvement tracks, and AANA-approved continuing education credits. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, disability insurance, retirement savings, health savings and flexible spending accounts, certification and education support, and 26 days of paid time off plus one additional week for professional development.

Charlottesville, set near the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Park, offers dining, wineries, arts, and a walkable downtown. Candidates must hold a Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited program or be eligible to practice as a CRNA in Virginia, and must be licensed in Virginia as a registered nurse, a nurse practitioner, and a certified registered nurse anesthetist. An AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification is also required. Hires undergo background checks, pre-employment health screening, and a drug screen.
