Full details
The Anesthesiology department at Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for a full-time position with several shift options. The role involves giving general, regional and monitored anesthesia for scheduled and emergency surgical and obstetrical procedures, carried out under the direction of an attending anesthesiologist. Duties include pre-operative patient evaluation, building and adjusting the anesthetic plan with the attending, watching and documenting each patient's response, moving patients safely to and from the anesthetizing location, and overseeing their care after surgery. The CRNA also supervises, teaches and advises student nurse anesthetists with patient safety as the priority.
A signing bonus of $50,000 is offered, and a relocation incentive is available as well. Eligible applicants may receive up to $10,000 in relocation help, which is taxable and paid within 45 days of hire, provided they move from more than 100 miles away. Candidates who have worked for VUMC in the past 12 months do not qualify for either incentive, and the signing bonus applies only to full-time positions.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center's anesthesiology department reports that its more than 288 CRNAs cover a broad caseload, including cardiac, pediatric, vascular, trauma, neurosurgical, plastic, radiologic and specialty procedures. Stipends are available for certain service lines, and leadership, quality improvement and specialty team roles may be pursued. The department also works with several nurse anesthesia programs and hosts student clinical rotations.
Applicants need to be graduates of an accredited nurse anesthesia program, though candidates finishing their final semester may apply. Required credentials are a Tennessee registered nurse license and CRNA certification, and candidates who can obtain these within 90 days may be considered under state rules. The benefits package includes medical plan options, dental and or vision coverage, a 403(b) retirement plan, flexible paid time off, tuition and adoption assistance, short- and long-term disability coverage, and subsidized backup childcare. A supplemental pay program for inpatient nursing is also available to ask about.
