The role involves giving intravenous, inhalation, and regional anesthetics to keep patients free of pain during surgery, obstetrical deliveries, and other medical or dental procedures. The anesthetist may care for patients of every age and A.S.A. class, including older adults and children, and provides airway management as needed across the hospital. A $20k sign-on bonus is offered to eligible candidates.
Responsibilities include completing pre-anesthesia evaluations and building individualized anesthesia plans, delivering general, regional, or monitored anesthesia care alongside surgeons and other clinicians, watching patients throughout procedures and handling any anesthesia-related complications, and providing recovery care and pain control afterward. Accurate charting consistent with hospital policy and regulatory standards is also expected.
The schedule is described as having no call, no overnight shifts, and minimal weekend work, with the latest shift ending at 9:30 p.m. The surgery centers offer a broad mix of cases, such as total hip and knee procedures, plastics, sports medicine, orthopedics, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology, podiatry, dental, pediatric, endoscopy, and general surgery. The ambulatory division includes more than 40 CRNAs and 10 senior staff physicians.
Candidates need a current RN license and NBCRNA CRNA certification, a master's or doctoral degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, and graduation from an accredited school of anesthesia. Strong clinical judgment, communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with anesthesiologists and other providers are required. Maintained credentials include clinical privileges, a State of Michigan RN license, state specialty certification, CRNA certification, and ALS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
Benefits include a competitive salary, family-forming coverage such as paid parental leave, adoption assistance, donor assistance, and fertility care, and a 403(b) retirement plan with a 3.5% salary match. Medical, dental, and vision coverage is available, along with tax-advantaged accounts such as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA options.
