The CRNA would give intravenous, inhalation, and regional anesthetics to keep patients free of pain during surgeries, obstetrical deliveries, and other medical or dental procedures, working with patients of every age and ASA class, including geriatric and pediatric patients. The CRNA also provides airway management across the hospital as needed.
The hospital is a level 3 trauma center with 15 operating rooms covering thoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, general, ENT, urology, orthopedic, bariatric, plastic, colorectal, ophthalmology, podiatry, and pediatric surgery. Anesthesia coverage also extends to three endoscopy suites and to MRI, electrophysiology, TEE, DCCV, CT, obstetrics, and bronchoscopy. Call is one to two shifts per six-week schedule, with few midnight shifts (about two per year on average) and roughly five to six weekend shifts a year.
Core duties include completing pre-anesthesia assessments and building individualized anesthesia plans, delivering general, regional, or monitored anesthesia care alongside surgeons and other clinicians, watching patients through procedures and handling any anesthesia-related complications, and providing recovery care and pain management afterward. Documentation must meet hospital policy and regulatory standards.
Candidates need a current RN license and NBCRNA CRNA certification, a master's or doctoral degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, and strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills. They must hold or maintain Michigan RN licensure, state specialty certification, clinical privileges, and ALS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
Benefits include a competitive salary, family-forming support such as paid parental leave, adoption assistance, donor assistance, and fertility coverage, and a 403(b) retirement plan with a 3.5% salary match plus an optional 457 plan. Medical, dental, and vision coverage is offered with tax-advantaged accounts including HSA, FSA, and DCFSA options.
