Full details

This per diem role places a Graduate Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the Orange County and Anaheim area, working under the medical supervision of an anesthesiologist. The provider delivers general and regional anesthesia for surgical, obstetrical and other procedures requiring anesthesia, caring for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients according to hospital and departmental standards. Care may include airway management, fluid and homeostasis maintenance, monitoring, emergency response including airway and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and ventilator management.

Core duties include evaluating patients before surgery through interview, examination and chart review, then choosing an anesthetic with the physician. The provider reviews how each patient responds to premedication, coordinates concerns with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, and prepares medications. During procedures the provider monitors the patient, responds to changes, and assesses the patient's condition afterward, including a postoperative evaluation within 24 hours. Equipment is checked daily and between cases, controlled substances are accounted for according to department guidelines, and equipment and supplies are maintained.

The position requires working within an anesthesia team alongside anesthesiologists, other CRNAs and anesthesia technicians. The provider must follow organizational rules, state, federal and local laws, and accreditation and regulatory requirements, operate within granted clinical privileges, and keep courteous, cooperative relationships with patients, staff and the public. Additional duties may be assigned if they fall within the provider's licensure and certification.
