Full details

A full-time CRNA position in the South Bay/Harbor City area includes a $25,000 sign-on bonus. Working under the medical supervision of an anesthesiologist, the CRNA provides general and regional anesthesia for surgical, obstetrical and other procedures requiring anesthesia care. Patients range from neonates and children to adolescents, adults and older adults, and care follows hospital and departmental standards.

Anesthesia services may involve airway management, fluid and hemodynamic balance, patient monitoring, emergency response including airway emergencies and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and ventilator management.

Core duties include pre-operative evaluation through patient interviews, examination and chart review, and selecting an anesthetic plan with the anesthesiologist. The CRNA responds to patients' reactions to premedication, coordinates concerns with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, and checks equipment daily and between cases. Intraoperative monitoring, post-operative assessment within 24 hours, and stabilizing the patient are also part of the role.

The position also involves preparing medications, keeping an accurate count of controlled substances, maintaining equipment and supplies, precepting student nurse anesthetists, and performing other tasks within the CRNA's licensure. The CRNA must follow organizational rules, accreditation standards, state regulations and departmental requirements, and must maintain courteous working relationships with patients, staff and the public.
