The CRNA will be based in the Electrophysiology Lab at High Point Medical Center, a full-time, benefits-eligible position of 40 hours per week. The posted schedule is 4-10 hour shifts, Monday through Thursday. The pay range is listed as $99.75 to $159.60.

The anesthetist provides the full span of anesthesia care, covering pre-anesthesia evaluation, general, regional and monitored anesthesia care, and post-anesthesia services. Duties include obtaining informed consent, ordering and giving pre-medications, reviewing preoperative studies, preparing equipment, supplies and medications, and managing induction, maintenance and emergence. The role also covers selecting and giving anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids and temperature-regulating devices, remaining with patients through handoff, giving post-operative epidural and other analgesia with the surgeon, and following up on anesthesia-related complications. In emergencies, the CRNA assesses and stabilizes patients, manages the airway, gives emergency drugs and fluids, and applies advanced and basic cardiac life support.

Other expectations include timely electronic medical record documentation, compliant coding and billing, participation in quality, safety and peer review work, committee and departmental meetings, and training of new staff, students and other clinicians. The position also requires meeting productivity, access and quality benchmarks, and adjusting care to patients of every age in line with departmental standards.

Required credentials include an active RN license, an APRN or equivalent advanced practice license in the state of practice, and active NBCRNA certification as a CRNA. An active DEA registration is needed before hire, and an Illinois Controlled Substance License is also required for Illinois practice. ACLS, PALS and NRP are required as the site or role dictates, to be obtained before hire or within six months of it. A Master's degree in Nursing is required, and no prior experience is necessary.

Successful candidates show a high level of clinical skill, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a care team. They should adapt readily to new technology, be proficient in electronic records, communicate well, build working relationships, and organize work and set priorities effectively.

Physical demands include functional vision and hearing, lifting up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, lifting 20 pounds overhead, carrying 40 pounds over a reasonable distance, and pushing or pulling with 30 pounds of force. The worker must perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present, operate foot pedals, and frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach and twist. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation and bodily-fluid hazards is continuous, and gloves, goggles and gowns are worn as needed.
