Full details

A $25,000 sign-on bonus is offered for this full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist position in Downey. The CRNA works under the medical supervision of an anesthesiologist to provide general and regional anesthesia for surgical, obstetric, and other procedures across patient groups from neonates to geriatric adults, following hospital and departmental standards of care. Responsibilities include airway management, fluid and homeostasis maintenance, patient monitoring, emergency response including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and care of ventilated patients.

Pre-operative duties involve interviewing and examining patients, reviewing charts, and selecting an anesthetic with the anesthesiologist, then checking equipment daily and between cases, preparing drugs, and administering anesthesia within granted clinical privileges. The CRNA monitors patients during surgery, responds to changes in operative or post-operative condition, and evaluates each patient within 24 hours after the procedure. The role also includes precepting student nurse anesthetists, keeping accurate controlled-substance records, maintaining equipment and supplies, and following the organization's policies, accreditation standards, and state, federal, and local laws.

The position calls for an understanding of how patients develop physically, emotionally, and cognitively across age groups, and for courteous, cooperative work with patients, staff, and other personnel. Additional duties may be assigned if they fall within the CRNA's licensure and certification.
