Full details

This full-time Graduate Registered Nurse Anesthetist role in Downey is eligible for a $25,000 sign-on bonus. The anesthetist works under the medical supervision of an anesthesiologist to deliver general and regional anesthesia for surgical, obstetrical, and other procedures requiring anesthesia. Patients range from neonates and children to adolescents, adults, and older adults, and care follows hospital and departmental standards.

Responsibilities include pre-operative evaluation through patient interviews, examination, and chart review, then selecting an anesthetic plan with the physician. The role also covers intraoperative monitoring, airway management, fluid and hemodynamic balance, emergency response including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and care of ventilated patients. Post-operative evaluation takes place within 24 hours, and the anesthetist adjusts care to keep patients stable.

Daily and between-case checks of anesthesia equipment are required, along with drug preparation and careful accounting of controlled substances under departmental guidelines. The anesthetist must follow organizational rules and regulatory requirements, including accreditation standards and state regulations, and maintain equipment and supplies per department policy.

The position is designed for an anesthesia team model and requires working alongside anesthesiologists, other CRNAs, and anesthesia technicians. Courteous, cooperative relationships with patients, surgeons, and staff are expected, and the anesthetist may take on other duties within the scope of licensure and certification.
