Full details
A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is sought for a position in York, Pennsylvania, at UPMC Memorial, a 104-bed hospital where every patient room is private. The five-level facility offers acute and emergency care, cardiology, musculoskeletal services, chronic disease management, and surgery.
The CRNA would deliver anesthesia to patients of all types in coordination with a supervising or medically directing physician, following Department of Anesthesiology standards and hospital policy. Duties include administering anesthesia so patients feel no pain during surgery, watching how patients respond to sedatives, analgesics, and anesthetic agents, and alerting the anesthesiologist to any condition that could endanger a patient. The work spans pre-anesthetic evaluation, induction, maintenance and emergence, post-anesthesia care, and peri-anesthesia support. The CRNA is accountable for controlled substances under departmental, hospital, state, and federal rules, helps train and assess newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs, verifies consent documentation, confirms the surgical site with the surgical team, and contributes to quality improvement through case records, incident reports, and education.
The role advertises flexible scheduling, exposure to a broad mix of cases across several specialties, and a team of experienced clinicians. Compensation and benefits listed include overtime and extra-shift bonus opportunities, yearly merit raises, a career ladder designed for CRNAs, paid time off and paid holidays, professional dues reimbursement, reimbursement for Pennsylvania license renewal, an education-specific CME allowance of $2000 per year, occurrence-based malpractice coverage, two retirement options (a defined contribution plan with a 403(b) plan that includes an employer match) plus the UPMC Funded Cash Balance Retirement Plan, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, and relocation assistance.
