Full details
This Mass General Brigham opening is for a board-certified CRNA, designated CRNA I, who will deliver anesthesia care to patients across the organization. The role centers on reviewing each patient's medical history, giving and managing anesthesia, and watching patients during procedures and through the perioperative period. The holder must keep current documentation of CRNA registration on file.
Core duties include meeting with patients or their health care proxies to explain anesthesia and prepare them for surgery, along with performing pre-operative assessments such as histories, physical exams, and systems reviews. The clinician selects the anesthetic type in coordination with nursing and surgical teams, builds care plans from diagnostic and lab findings, and carries out induction and maintenance under the assigned supervisor. Work covers general intravenous and inhalational anesthesia as well as regional techniques, and includes placing invasive monitoring lines and interpreting the readings.
Additional responsibilities involve ordering and evaluating labs and diagnostic tests, prescribing medications under organizational and regulatory policy, and tracking life-support functions during anesthesia. The CRNA treats changes in oxygenation, circulation, and ventilation, keeps the OR and anesthesia team updated, and records the anesthetic course in the EMR. Other tasks include checking equipment, supplies, and drugs for safety, working with Pharmacy on drug handling and disposal, joining audits and meetings, and caring for patients in the immediate post-operative period until handoff to the receiving nurse or physician. The position may also cover other sites and contribute to clinical education, including supervising Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists.
Requirements include a Master's degree in Nurse Anesthesia Practice, which cannot be replaced by experience, and current NBCRNA certification as a CRNA. An active state RN license, ACLS, and BLS are also required. Experience as a CRNA or as a new graduate with 0-1 year is preferred, and foreign language ability for the patient population is considered a plus. Candidates should show strong knowledge of anesthesia-related sciences, calm handling of emergencies, clear communication, and a capacity to work both independently and within a fast-paced team.
The job is onsite at 30 Tuscan Boulevard on a regular, day-shift schedule. The posted base pay range is $223,683.20 to $264,846.40 per year, an estimate tied to minimum qualifications, with final pay based on skills, experience, education, and certifications. Differentials, premiums, bonuses, and recognition programs may apply, along with comprehensive benefits and career development options. The physical demands are substantial, with frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 35 lbs with assistance, and constant talking, hearing, and near and far vision.
