Full details
Jackson Memorial Hospital, the flagship of Jackson Health System in the heart of Miami, is seeking a full-time day-shift Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for its Anesthesia department. The hospital describes itself as an accredited, tertiary teaching center with 1,500 licensed beds and a long record as one of the nation's largest public hospitals and a world-class academic medical center.
In this role, the CRNA gives anesthesia under medical direction for a wide range of surgical cases, using inhaled, intravenous, spinal or rectal agents. The work centers on applying suitable professional techniques, watching the anesthetized patient's condition throughout surgery, and taking corrective steps when a patient's condition turns unfavorable. The CRNA also handles patients' care before and after anesthesia. All techniques are overseen by the attending anesthesiologist assigned to the area.
Core duties include documenting pre-anesthetic evaluations, building a patient-specific anesthesia plan with the attending, and adjusting physiologic monitoring to fit the anesthetic and the patient. The CRNA recognizes abnormal reactions to anesthesia and adjunct drugs, monitors and resuscitates patients on the way to recovery, and gives a clear handoff report to recovery staff. The position also supports operating room procedures, keeps patients informed about their care, and serves as a clinical educator for student registered nurse anesthetists.
When the Chief CRNA is absent, the incumbent manages day-to-day operational and administrative tasks independently. Additional responsibilities may fall within the CRNA's own expertise, along with ongoing professional development, suggesting improvements to care standards based on current literature, and following unit-specific policies and competency checklists.
Candidates should have one to three years of related experience and a master's degree in nursing. A valid Florida RN/CRNA license, or eligibility for licensure as a CRNA, and National Board Certification from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists are required. BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications are also required, with BLS needing at least six months of validity on hire and maintained throughout employment.
The posting advertises a bonus of up to $40,000.
