The full-time day-shift position pays $220.00 per hour. The CRNA provides anesthesia under the direction of an anesthesiologist for a wide variety of surgical procedures and diagnostic tests, as well as cardiothoracic surgery and cardiac catheterizations, and also takes part in teaching nurse anesthesia students.

Candidates must have graduated from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, since work experience cannot replace that education. They must hold current certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse with the CRNA specialty from the Alabama Board of Nursing, along with current ACLS, BLS through the American Heart Association, and PALS through the American Heart Association.

The employer is UAB Medicine, the largest and most comprehensive health system in Alabama, with a team of more than 200 CRNAs who handle over 100,000 cases a year at more than 150 anesthetizing locations in Birmingham and central Alabama. Cases range from cancer and transplant surgery to trauma and same-day procedures, and include complex interventional cardiac, radiologic, and GI work in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
