Full details
The role is a full-time, benefits-eligible CRNA position at Lexington Medical Center, scheduled for 40 hours per week. The posted pay range is $99.75 to $159.60.
The CRNA delivers the full continuum of anesthesia care, covering pre-anesthesia evaluation, general, regional and monitored anesthesia care, and post-anesthesia follow-up. Responsibilities include obtaining informed consent, ordering pre-medications, reviewing preoperative studies, preparing equipment and drugs, managing induction through emergence, and handling emergencies with advanced airway management and cardiac life support. The nurse anesthetist also provides epidural and other post-operative pain relief in collaboration with the surgeon, and makes follow-up visits to check for anesthesia-related complications. Accurate, timely electronic medical record documentation and compliant coding and billing are expected.
Beyond clinical work, the role involves participating in quality, safety and peer review efforts, departmental meetings and committees, and onboarding or teaching new staff, students and other clinicians. The CRNA may serve as a clinical or didactic instructor for student nurse anesthetists and is expected to pursue ongoing professional development. Productivity, access, face-to-face time and quality targets must be met.
Minimum requirements include a Master's degree in nursing and an active RN license along with an APRN or equivalent license in the state of practice. Candidates must hold current national certification as a CRNA from the NBCRNA, an active DEA registration before hire, and ACLS, PALS and NRP as the site requires. Illinois practice also requires an Illinois Controlled Substance License before hire. No prior experience is required. Strong clinical judgment, independent and team-based work, adaptability to technology, and communication and organizational skills are needed.
The position involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending and reaching, along with lifting up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, pushing or pulling 30 pounds of force, and transferring patients. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation and bodily-fluid hazards is continuous, and protective gloves, goggles and gowns are worn as needed.
Compensation is set within the posted range according to qualifications, skills, experience and training, and may be supplemented by shift and on-call premium pay, incentive pay for select roles, and opportunities for performance-based increases. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, family benefits such as adoption assistance and paid parental leave, retirement plans with employer match, and an educational assistance program.
