Methodist Medical Center in East Tennessee offers a broad range of services, spanning more than thirty specialties such as cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedics and vascular care. The hospital has 283 licensed beds, including 25 ICU beds and 12 intermediate care beds, plus 38 emergency suites, two cath labs and eight LDRP suites, and it employs over 800 staff alongside more than 250 active and courtesy physicians.

The anesthesia group serving the hospital covers 13 main operating rooms, among them two cardiovascular rooms, two outpatient GI suites, two inpatient GI suites, two cath lab rooms, an interventional radiology suite and a dedicated obstetric suite. Coverage also extends to a four-room advanced family surgery center within walking distance of the main campus and to an endoscopy center in Oak Ridge. Anesthesiologists conduct pre-anesthesia interviews, place central lines and peripheral nerve blocks, and remain available during cases, often arriving for induction and emergence. The case mix is broad, covering nearly every surgical type except transplants, with a limited pediatric load at the main hospital and a steady stream of healthy pediatric cases at the surgery center.

CRNAs may optionally perform their own spinal anesthetics and epidurals in obstetrics. The practice operates under an anesthesia care team model with supervision, and physicians are routinely on hand for induction and emergencies.

Pay includes a base salary with considerable room for extra earnings. Extra shifts on regular days off or vacation days are available at a premium internal locum rate, and shift patterns are flexible for discussion. Part-time work is offered with a salary prorated to hours. A $60,000 sign-on bonus is advertised, and a $100,000 package covering sign-on and relocation is offered to experienced CRNAs relocating to East Tennessee. Students in their final year of school may receive a $30,000 stipend, with a further $30,000 once they begin work.

Benefits include Blue Cross medical coverage, dental and vision plans, with no out-of-pocket premium for wholly owned Covenant facilities. The retirement plan matches up to 6 percent, licensing and certification costs are reimbursed, and $1,500 in CME funds is provided. The position includes seven paid holidays, and those who work holidays receive compensatory paid time off.
