Full details

Methodist Medical Center in East Tennessee has long offered a broad range of specialties, spanning cardiac and brain surgery to joint replacement and vascular treatment, and it was among the region's early adopters of advanced therapies for serious conditions. The hospital has 283 licensed beds, including 25 ICU beds and 12 intermediate care beds, plus 38 emergency suites, two cath labs, eight labor and delivery suites, more than 250 active and courtesy physicians, and over 800 staff.

Anesthesiologists conduct pre-anesthesia interviews, place central lines and peripheral nerve blocks, and remain available for help during cases, often coming in for inductions and emergence. Anesthesia is provided at the main hospital, the family surgery center, and an endoscopy center in Oak Ridge.

The caseload covers nearly all procedure types except transplants, with general, cardiac, orthopedic, neuro, gynecology, urology, podiatry, ENT, endoscopy, and robotic surgery included, and there is limited pediatric work at the main campus alongside a steady mix of healthy pediatric cases at the surgery center. CRNAs may optionally perform their own spinals in obstetrics and epidurals. The practice follows an supervised model in which physicians routinely assist with inductions and emergencies.

Earnings can exceed base pay for providers who take additional shifts, with overtime said to add roughly 10 to 15 thousand dollars. Providers may also work regular days off or vacation days at a premium internal locum rate, and shift options are open for discussion. Part-time employment is paid on a prorated salary basis. Students in their final year of school may receive a 30 thousand dollar stipend, with an additional 30 thousand dollars after they begin work.

Benefits include Blue Cross medical coverage, dental and vision plans with no out-of-pocket cost at wholly owned Covenant facilities, a 401(k) with a 6% contribution, reimbursement for licenses and certifications, and 1,500 dollars in CME funds. Seven paid holidays are provided, and those who work holidays receive comp PTO time.
