Full details

The CRNA position is based at a Shakopee, Minnesota facility with nine operating rooms and an annual surgical volume of roughly 5,500 cases. Cases cover nearly all specialties except cardiac, neuro, ophthalmology, and vascular, with orthopedics and general surgery representing the highest volume. Medical direction is available around the clock, and the practice is structured so that someone is always working in-house, meaning no call rotation.

The anesthetist evaluates patients before surgery, reviews orders, and obtains informed consent. They make sure each patient is correctly positioned and secured, start the anesthetic plan (general, regional, local, or sedation), and keep the airway and cardiopulmonary status stable. They also oversee emergence and recovery, then discharge patients with a summary of their history and the procedure. Beyond the operating room, the role includes placing peripheral and arterial catheters, drawing arterial blood samples, supporting resuscitation efforts, and assisting with respiratory and ventilator care in other patient areas.

Additional responsibilities include working collaboratively with the department team, serving as a resource for colleagues, taking on charge duties when assigned, and precepting students and new staff. The nurse anesthetist also helps identify and start process improvements and performs other duties as assigned. The position is listed as a day, evening, and night shift with variable length, 40 hours per week, and occasional weekend rotation, and it is covered by a union contract.

Requirements include a bachelor's degree, graduation from an accredited nursing program, and a master's degree from a nurse anesthetist program. Candidates need a Minnesota registered nurse license and a Minnesota Board of Nursing registered nurse anesthetist credential, both due upon hire, along with ACLS/BLS Tier 2 and PALS certifications, also due upon hire. The physical demands are medium work, with lifting up to 32 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently under the organization's safe patient moving policy.

The posted base pay range is $125.00 to $135.00 per hour. The starting rate depends on factors such as experience, education, and the union agreement, and shift or weekend differentials may apply. Benefits include medical and dental coverage, paid time off, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, voluntary vision, legal, and critical illness coverage, tuition or continuing medical education support, and student loan assistance, including help with the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Eligibility for benefits depends on FTE status and union representation.
