Full details
Cambridge Medical Center, a site in Cambridge, Minnesota, about an hour north of Minneapolis, is seeking a CRNA to join its anesthesiology department. The center operates five operating rooms and one designated endoscopy suite, and its case mix spans orthopedics, ENT, gynecology, general surgery, endoscopy, podiatry, urology, and ophthalmology. The day schedule runs roughly 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in 8-hour shifts, with a peel-off process and a 1-in-7 weekend call rotation. Call is unrestricted with a 45-minute response time, and the FTE is negotiable for those who want part-time work.
The anesthetist's core work covers pre-anesthesia evaluation, reviewing orders, and obtaining informed consent. It also includes positioning and securing patients, choosing anesthetic techniques such as general, regional, local, or sedation, managing the airway and cardiopulmonary status, and guiding emergence and recovery. Discharge includes a summary of the patient's history and surgical course. Beyond the operating room, the role supports other care areas by placing peripheral and arterial catheters, drawing arterial blood samples, taking part in resuscitation, and assisting with respiratory and ventilator care. The CRNA also helps set priorities, serves as a resource for colleagues, takes charge when assigned, precepts students and orientees, and contributes to process improvement.
Applicants need a bachelor's degree, graduation from an accredited nursing program, and a master's degree from a nurse anesthetist program. Two or more years working as a CRNA is preferred, though newer graduates will be considered. Required credentials include an MN Registered Nurse license and a MN Registered Nurse Anesthetist license, both due upon hire, plus Tier 2 advanced cardiac life support within 180 days and pediatric advanced life support upon hire. The physical demands are medium work, with lifting up to 32 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently, under the organization's safe patient moving policy.
The base hourly pay range is listed as $130.00 to $140.00. Actual starting pay depends on experience, education, and any union agreement, and shift, weekend, or other differentials may apply. Benefits include medical and dental coverage, paid time off, retirement savings plans, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, voluntary vision, legal, and critical illness coverage, tuition or continuing education support, and student loan support including help with the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Eligibility for some benefits depends on FTE and union representation.
