Full details

UPMC McKeesport is seeking a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join its anesthesiology group, which is part of the University of Pittsburgh Physicians. The position is non-exempt and paid on an hourly basis. The facility is a 216-bed community hospital with four operating rooms and two endoscopy suites, handling roughly 1,300 surgical cases each year across orthopedics, general surgery, GI procedures, plastics, urology, gynecology, and vascular work.

The CRNA works under the direction of a supervising anesthesiologist to deliver anesthetic care to every patient, watching for reactions to sedatives and anesthetic agents and alerting the physician to any condition that could endanger safety. Duties span the full anesthetic course, from preparing the patient before the procedure through induction, maintenance, emergence, recovery, and support around the operation. The role also carries accountability for controlled substances under departmental, hospital, state, and federal rules, and includes helping train and evaluate newly hired CRNAs, nurse anesthesia residents, and student registered nurse anesthetists.

Responsibilities include reviewing consent documentation and confirming the correct surgical site with the operating team and surgeon, all in line with departmental and regulatory standards. The CRNA also takes part in quality improvement work through charting, incident reporting, case review, education, and putting improvements into practice.

The employer highlights a career ladder that lets CRNAs choose areas of interest and earn financial rewards along a chosen pathway, with a large share of its CRNAs having advanced through it. Other stated features include a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance, a tiered pay program with performance-based annual increases at credentialed sites, incentives for shifting between sites, flexible shift options, and paid time off with paid parental leave. Continuing education resources are also described as available to the CRNA.
