Full details
This opening is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist role at a Baylor Scott & White Health location in Brenham, Texas, a position limited to select sites because of its particular workplace conditions. The CRNA gives, watches over, and adjusts anesthetic doses for patients of every age during surgical and other procedures.
Day-to-day work covers the pre-anesthetic picture: reviewing the physician's evaluation, lab results, and health history, examining the patient, confirming the surgical plan and safety checks, and confirming equipment is ready before induction. During the case, the CRNA induces and sustains general anesthesia, performs regional techniques, intubates and extubates, handles emergencies under departmental policy, and tracks vital signs and fluid and electrolyte balance with thorough charting. The role also includes handing off to recovery staff, following patients afterward to catch anesthesia-related complications, and documenting those post-anesthetic visits in a progress note.
Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree and bring at least three years of experience, along with CRNA credentials and current ACLS and BLS certifications, which must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer. Ongoing expectations include completing 40 CEUs every two years, keeping certification and registration current, working variable hours, and sharing on-call duties with a prompt response.
The organization describes itself as a not-for-profit system serving communities across Texas and emphasizes its core values of service, continuous improvement, teamwork, and initiative. Benefits listed include immediate eligibility for health and welfare coverage, a 401(k) with a dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off that accrues from the first day. Benefits may differ by position type and level.
